Seven seconds. That’s all the time you have to see the riders cycle past you at 20-30 mph in a time trials or a stage. But that seven-second rule is not hampering the thousands of bystanders that line the scenic backroads during the first annual Amgen Tour of California Bicycle Race.
Bringing the drama and excitement of a professional bicycle stage race to the California coast, it’s attracted the world’s top pro teams for an 8-day, 700-mile race through the redwoods, wine country and Pacific Coast.
This California version of the Tour de France will also raise funds for cancer care and treatment through Amgen, the tour’s title sponsor, who will work with The Wellness Community®, and Team Discovery member George Hincapie through their new Breakaway from Cancer™ initiative. [Read more.]
