Camp Weird: Burning Man, NV

From The San Francisco Chronicle: Once a year, up to 40,000 people congregate in the Black Rock Desert north of Reno for Burning Man. Why? Because it’s there. Because it’s home, for one week, to a conglomeration of artists, intellectuals, weirdos, non-conformists, pyromaniacs, and more. Plus, this town on the playa becomes the 7th largest city in Nevada. Then it’s virtually gone. Of the 477 theme camps, none is more amusing than the Barbie Death Camp & Wine Bistro, with an installation of about 1,000 Barbie dolls who have been “killed.”

You can also visit the Black Rock Boutique, the Necklace Factory, Bolt Action Rifle Club, Black Rock University Flaming Flamingos, Camp Antartica, and more. A few friends of mine are going and I hope to get a post from them. Stay tuned…
