Billion Dollar Babes: Global Upscale Sample Sales

Have you heard about Billion Dollar Babes? Fashionistas in LA and NY know the company was created in 2001 with invitation-only, quarterly sample shopping events featuring 40+ designers. Now, they’re also held in London, Chicago and San Francisco. In fact, the SF sale comes to SF in October 14-15 and December 10-11 after a successful run in July when 2,300 visitors shopped ’til they dropped.

In SF, the first night was restricted to 850 invited guests. Some paid up to $200 for a VIP membershiop fee with perks including early peeks at the best clothing, express checkout and luxe products goodie bags.

Billion Dollar Babes donates a portion of its proceeds to charities, such as Dress for Success in NY, Step Up Women’s Network in LA, Fashion Targets Breast Cancer in London, and the California College of Arts & Crafts in SF.

In LA, shoppers turn out to shop elbow-to-elbow with celebrities, while in other cities, the great prices and a chance to meet the designers brings in the crowds.

BDB was co-founded by ex-Australians Shelli-Anne Couch, a former People editor, and Kate Nobelius, a former music agent and events producer.
