Auto Impressionism: 2008 Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe

I rode in my first Rolls-Royce when I was a teen. I’ll never forget the plush leather interior, the real wood paneling,or the quiet humming of the powerful engine that all just screamed immense wealth to me.

Now, the newest, sexiest and just as luxurious 2008 Rolls Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe is being rolled out in Geneva, Switzerland this week and will go into production in the UK this summer, modeled after RR’s 100EX concept car, which debuted at the 2004 Geneva Auto Show.

It features thin LED headlamps, rear-opening suicide doors, a brushed steel hood and A-pillar, plus teak decking behind the passenger compartment. But the engine is a thing of real beauty: a 6.75 Liter V12 rocket that generates 453 hp to propel the 5,775-pound vehicle to 60 mph in about 5.7 seconds.

Isn’t it drop-dead gorgeous? Your comments are appreciated, whether you can afford its $407,000US price tag. Or not.
