#1 With A Bullet in Gas Mileage :: VW’s One-Liter Microcar With 235 MPG
It’s shaped like a bullet, has two cylinders, two seats, weighs 660 lbs., is made of carbon fiber, offers a magnesium steering wheel, has video cameras instead of side mirrors, and gets a whopping 235 miles per gallon (or 282 per liter).
VW calls it the One-Liter because that’s all the diesel fuel you’ll need to travel over 200 miles. It’s low weight, but highly aerodynamic — 11.4 feet long, 4.1 feet wide, and just 3.3 feet tall. In fact, the passenger has to sit behind the driver because the car is so narrow.
