Walk The Flank & Other Wind-Blown Delicacies :: Waypoint Pizza, Tiburon, CA

“Tiburon” means “shark” in Spanish, but “Waypoint” means “delicious” in pizza. This new restaurant along the waterfront in Tiburon, a 20-minute drive north of San Francisco via the Golden Gate Bridge, is delightfully appointed with photos of sailboats and a galley full of nautical gear in a building dating back to the early 1880s.

My colleague Ashley’s friends own it and it’s a far cry from any other eatery along this popular stretch of property, catering mostly to tourists, but now also most definitely to those of us with saltwater coursing through our veins. No wonder their slogan is “Pizza With Latitude.”

We shared two specialties…

1) The Walk The Flank “Between The Sheets” Pizza-style Sandwich, a groaning array of grilled flank steak, garlic shallot, red onions, tomatoes, mozzarella, romaine tossed with creamy garlic. Wow! It was huge and terrific.

2) The BBQ Chicken Pizza with barbecue sauce, chicken, scallions, and red onion. It was also perfectly cooked and very tasty.

Though famished, we couldn’t finish these two orders, so come very hungry and enjoy!

Waypoint Pizza offers pick-up and delivery from 5-9 pm in Belvedere & Tiburon (minimum order: $15).

Did you know that Tiburon was the first city in the nation to go trans fat free!! Pretty cool.

I did not know that. But when I lived in Sausalito, they were the first to claim they were a cholesterol AND a nuclear-free zone!
    Thanks,
