The PC That You Can Put Your Drinks On :: Microsoft’s Tabletop Computer

The future is here. Microsoft just announced a new coffee-table shaped computer that utilizes a Windows Vista PC tucked inside a shiny black table base, topped with a 30-inch touchscreen in a clear acrylic frame. They will use five cameras mounted beneath the screen that can sense nearby objects and feature
touch-screen technology so people sitting around the table can play with music, photos, movies, and more.

These tabletop PCs could replace computer games in bars, clubs, restaurants and gaming rooms. The machines are set to arrive in November in T-Mobile USA stores and properties owned by Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc. and Harrah’s Entertainment Inc.

Priced at $5,000 to $10,000 per unit, these are not cheap. But then again, furniture rarely is.
