Seafood, Sunsets & SF Views: Skates On The Bay, Berkeley, CA

The breathtaking bay view at Skates. I’ve often lunched or dined at Skates On The Bay, 25 minutes from my house across the eight-mile-long Richmond-San Rafael Bridge. The seafood is always fresh. The wait staff is always courteous. And the view is always breathtaking.

Last night, as we took some golden/orange sunset photos, I turned our friend Carol from Dallas to the right and said, “Remember Laci Peterson? Her body washed ashore right there.” It was a chilling moment on an otherwise beautiful night, but I wanted her to know how close she was to a national news event…

My family arrived with Carol as the sun dipped between the towers of the Golden Gate Bridge, looking like a field goal crossing the uprights. San Francisco Bay, often foaming with white caps, was tranquil as a Caribbean beach. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meal, the ambience, the sunset, the view, and a great deal.

The Three-Course, $30 Special offers you a choice of salad (try their famous hot Crab & Artichoke Dip), an entree (we both had the fresh Pacific Salmon) and a mouth-watering desserts (Creme Brulee and Key Lime Pie were split among four of us).
