Puttin’ On The Ritz: Paris, Part Two

A few weeks ago, I wrote that our friends Len and Deb would be staying at The Ritz Hotel in Paris for a friends’ milestone birthday.

Here’s what Len just told me via email: “All I can say is that I’m broke!!! It’s expensive there. Coffee for two was $27.50 without tip. Our friends decided to email for their coffee because they thought it would be cheaper, but a half-hour (minimum ) on the computer was $35. Added to the coffee, it was $62 dollars.

“Two four day passes to most museums in Paris was 90 Euros…when I got the credit charge the other day it was $117 U.S. dollars. It’s not a bad deal if you go to all the museums, but who wants to do that!”

So a word of advice when you go to Paris, London, Stockholm and some of the other more expensive European cities… be prepared for sticker shock with the exhcange rate and bring lots of cash!

  1. If you book the Ritz Paris through American Express Fine Hotels & Resorts program … or through a Virtuoso travel agent … you get a complimentary Continental Breakfast every morning via room service (or in the restaurant). A useful fact for people to keep in mind. The cost of just the cup of coffee suggests how valuable this amenity is.

Additional Virtuoso amenities: upgrade at the time of booking, and FREE one-way limo transfer from CDG to the hotel by Mercedes limousine.
