Lost: Your Luggage, Not The TV Program

Over four decades of travel, I’ve been lucky. I never lost a piece of luggage, though my bag was delayed once in Eleuthera and once in Maui. Well, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics released its latest stats this month and it wasn’t pretty.

More bags were lost, damaged or stolen from US airlines than in the past eight years:
• Mishandled bags rose 23%, an average of 8,700 lost or damaged PER DAY!
• Of the 20 carriers reporting to the Transportation Department, Atlantic Southeast Airlines had the highest rate of baggage complaints (17.41 per 1,000 passengers), while Hawaiian Airlines had the lowest (2.95 per 1,000). Read more.
