Show Me The Monks’ Key: Kruisheren Hotel, Maastricht, The Netherlands
I have no idea where the town of Maastricht is in The Netherlands. But it houses an updated monastery that dates back to 1438 with a monumental gothic church on the outside and a luxurious, contemporary inside.
The Kruisherenhotel now has 60 rooms. It first housed the Order of the Crutched Friars. Then, it was a French Revolution barracks. Today, it features the work of interior designer Henk Vos Maupertuus with a thirilling blend of old and new. And it offers a library, coffee bar, upscale furniture by Phillipe Starck, Le Corbusier, Piet Hein Eek and more.

This is old news probable, but “Maastricht” is in the South of the Netherlands. About 3 hours travel from Amsterdam. The Kruisheren hotel is definitely worth visiting, beautiful lighting and a very pleasent athmosphere. And if you’re visiting Maastricht you sould also check the bookstore Selexyz Dominicanen. This is a bookstore situated in an old Church, very pretty! This design has won the Dutch Architecture Price.
