Hot Haute Indian Cuisine: Devi, New York City

At the colorful Dévi Restaurant on E. 18th Street near 5th Avenue, fushion cocktails like the Gin Petal are $12. The wait staff are dressed in matching saffron-colored costumes. And the celebrity chefs Suvir Saran and Hemant Mathur from India have taken authentic subcontinent dishes a bit more upscale with specialties like Manchurian cauliflower, tandoori lamb chops as well as kulfi with citrus soup.

• Dinner, 5:30 to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday;
• Dinner, 5:30 to 10:30 P.M. Friday and Saturday.
