Going Green: New Irish Cuisine, Boston

If you’ve outgrown the usual raucus frat-brat, all-the-green-beer you can drink St. Patty’s Day celebration, then check out all the special events for Gaelic Gourmet Week, being held in America’s most Irish city, Boston.

From March 13-17 six of Ireland’s best chefs will come to Boston to showcase “New Irish Cuisine” including Noel McMeel of Castle Leslie, County Monaghan, Ed Cooney, Merrion Hotel, Dublin; Mark Donohue, Adare Manor, Limerick, Patrick McLarnon, Francesca’s Restaurant, Dublin, Kevin Thornton, Thornton’s Restaurant, Dublin; and Barry Wallace, Glenlo Abbey Hotel, Galway.

They will pair up with Boston chefs at the Omni Parker House, Jurys Boston Hotel, Hotel Commonwealth and Seaport Boston Hotel, as well restaurants Eastern Standard and the Black Rose Pub.

Throughout the week, you’ll be able to sample an assortment of fine wines, Michael Collins whiskey, Guinness Beer, hors d’oeuvres, and fantastic cheese from the Irish Dairy Board. The Gaelic Gourmet Feast featuring all 12 chefs takes place on Friday, March 16, 2007 at Hotel Commonwealth.
