Float Your Boat: Condos on the High Seas
There was an email joke about a year ago that it actually could cost seniors less to travel on cruises around the world than to pay for an assisted living facility. After all, where else can you get three to six incredible meals a day, 24-hour room service, medical care, movies, live entertainment, games, gambling, and the thrill of non-stop travel aboard the high seas?
Now, that anecdote is no joke as The World, a ResidenSea Ltd. ship out of Miami, is the first major cruise ship offering “condos for sail” for residents who love cruising. The fare? It’s as vast as the ocean, ranging from $500,000 to $8 million.
In 2010 there will be two more cruise ships that the same concept as The World. And they’re bigger.
