Downtown Unique Boutique: The Victorian Hotel, Vancouver, B.C.

If I didn’t live in the SF Bay Area, I’d live in Vancouver because they’re two of my all-time favorite cities. Next time I visit the latter, I vow to stay at the Victorian Hotel, nestled in the heart of downtown, a few blocks from Chinatown and Gastown.

Built in 1898, today it stands at the corner of Homer and Pender Streets as a beautifully restored Guest House, featuring high ceilings, hardwood floors, gorgeous bathrooms and breathtaking period pieces. This Victorian jewel is also one of the city’s oldest boutique hotels and offers European style with friendly Canadian service.

You wouldn’t expect a 106-year-old hotel to be forward thinking. But the Victorian has a Green Policy to use only environmentally friendly cleaning products.

Rates are surprisingly affordable. Through April 30, a King Bed for two with an Ensuite Bath is just $89, while a Deluxe Room for two is $99. Summer rates, when the rooms are in greater demand, are 20 – 30% higher.
