Daytripper’s Paradise: Atlantis, Paradise Island, Bahamas

I caught part of a TV program this weekend on my local ABC affliliate called “Travel in Style.” The Director of Sales and Marketing at the Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island said that more upscale travelers are sailing their own yachts there, parking them in their harbor, booking a suite of rooms, then taking day sailing trips to some of the nearby 700 Bahamian Islands.

I’ve been to this resort that reportedly cost $1 billion to build. It is absolutely spectacular, boasting the world’s largest aquarium featuring an extremely well-conceived Atlantis storyline, tens of thousands of fish, multiple pools, water slides, rivers, lots of great restaurants, a range of accommodations, a huge casino, and so much more. It’s also one of the best designed Web sites I’ve seen to match the look and feel of an actual visit.

Or you can’t get there in person, you can also shop for some of their branded gear.
