Without the daily dose of caffeine, you may feel that your day is incomplete. However, did you know that there are many types of coffee beans that cost more than we can imagine. They come so expensive that even the Forbes magazine lists it as an expensive industry today.
The most expensive coffee beans come from Indonesia and are known as Kopi Luwak. Currently priced at $ 160 per pound, these beans are extracted from coffee cherries that have been eaten by palm civets. The palm civets only devour on the ripest beans and these are the one’s that have to be hand picked from the jungles. They are then made into special blends that are sold at high prices.
Panama’s hacienda La Esmeralda Geisha ranks second in the list of expensive coffee beans. Though the current retail price is not known, it is expected that these special blend from Boquete will fetch $110 per pound soon.
