Centre of Fashionable Shopping Attention: Westfield San Francisco Centre

I used to go to The Emporium downtown as a kid to shop. I’d always stand in the center of the floor under its storied 19th century rotunda with my mouth open.

But in less than two months, I can stand there and drool all over again because the Westfield San Francisco Centre, a $440-million retail, office and entertainment complex, will open its doors at the corners of Market, 4th and Powell Streets on September 28. It will contain 1.5 million square feet of office space, triple the size of the original Emporium, and be anchored by the second largest Bloomingdales in the US, along with 9 Century Theatres, Gap’s first Forth & Towne store, Bebe Sport , Abercrombie & Fitch’s Ruehl and Hollister, and dozens more. BART, Muni and Cable Cars will all stop here, too.
