Art of the Deal: French Impressionists in Las Vegas

I’ve been to Las Vegas twice in the summer and it’s blazing hot. Walk barefoot by the pool and risk blistering your feet. Brush against a metallic car door and raise a welt. Don’t hydrate enough and get heat prostration. But even when it’s 114 degrees, high rollers, vacationers and locals can see something radically cool: The French Impressionist Landscape from Corot to Van Gogh –– at the Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art.

From June 10 through January 8, you can view masterworks from the 19th century as the Museum of Fine Arts Boston presents 34 incredible pieces by 16 of the world’s most renowned artists, including Cézanne, Corot, Gauguin, van Gogh, Millet, Monet, Renoir and Rosseau.

So between shows by Cirque de Soleil, pirate battles, erupting volcanoes, and other larger than life Vegas gaudiness, spend a few minutes reflecting on the Barbizon painters who helped spark the French impressionist movement with their endless devotion to nature. Tickets are $15/person; $12 for students and Nevada residents. Call 877-957-9777 or (702) 693-7871 or purchase online at www.ticketweb.com.
