April 15 may mark Income Taxes and the day we close our 2006 financial books in the U.S. But in the Hilton Maldives Resort & Spa in luxury travel spot set in the Indian Ocean, the World’s First All-Glass Undersea Restaurant is set to open.
Ithaa Restaurant, which means “pearl” in Dhivehi, will be 16 feet (five meters) under the waves. It will be surrounded by a vibrant coral reef. It will be encased in clear acrylic. And it will offer its diners 270-degrees of panoramic underwater views. In short, it will be like dining in an aquarium, but you’re the bait in this US $25 million re-build of Rangalifinolhu Island, one of the twin islands that make up Hilton Maldives Resort & Spa. Plus, 79 of the Maldives’ most luxurious Beach Villas and the over-the-water Spa Village with another 21 villas, an upscale spa, and another restaurant will open soon.
