The word ‘aman’ is a Sanskrit word which means peace and the word is really justified in serene atmosphere of Pamalican Island, where pure white sand engulfs the entire region along the crystal clear turquoise blue water of the Sulu Sea. The entire 7 km2 area of the island is the private property of the beach resort Amanpulo and it is bordered by magnificent coral reefs. The doorsteps of the waterfront resort are washed away by the cool water of the sea. The dwellings are designed in the native style of Philippine bahay kubo which is the rural archetype of the rural lifestyle of South East Asia. These casitas are dual roofed bungalows, which are scattered along the coastline and the hillside. Each of the casitas is decorated revealing the island style and architecture. The walls are built with the pebbles of the islands, and the tables are made of the coconut shells.
