Britain’s Top Chef Faces Financial Problem

You must have heard of Antony Worrall Thompson, the celebrity chef of Britain. The latest in the news is that he too has been subjected to the effects of the recession. AWT Restaurants Ltd. – the company that he owns showed many changes last Friday. According to the BBC News the top chef had to lock four restaurants. This meant that about 60 employees went jobless.

In order to cling onto his other two reputed restaurants he was bound to make use of his personal savings. The other two restaurants are the Kew Grill and Windsor Grill. He also owns the delicatessen known as WIndsor Larder

When Worrall Thompson did not manage to get £200,000 from his bank, his AWT Restaurants Ltd went into receivership. In the last week, reports also stated that another reputed chef, Gordon Ramsay may be facing financial problem with reduced bookings in his restaurants. A £10million loan to Gordon Ramsay Holdings is outstanding with the Royal Bank of Scotland.

    Sorry alison, but I couldnt let this one go without commenting.

    Anthony Worrall-Thompson is NOT Britain’s top chef. I dont think he is even Britain’s most famous chef. But definitely NOT TOP chef – I doubt he’d make the top 5.

    Personally that has to go to the man with 3 Michelin stars Heston Blumethal and his Fat Duck reaturant.
