British Airways – First Class Experience

Right off the bat I should mention sitting anywhere other than coach/economy is a switch for me. I am usually over the week or at the very rear of the plane where the seat does not recline.

Getting bumped up to first class is a rarity for me. I always think of the classic Seinfeld episode where Elaine gets relegated back to coach, while Jerry lives it up in first classic. My all time favorite episode of Seinfeld bar none. So flying from London to Dublin was a short flight, but a very special one. The BA desk in Heathrow was not a very pleasant experience to say the least. They did however bump us up to first class, as there way of apologizing. Apology accepted! It was a far cry from having my legs jammed in like a sardine.

Crew hand out amenity kits; the products are by Ren, very nice, and in the bag you’ll also find an eyemask and socks. Slippers will be offered separately. The flight attendants are a bit ore attentive than if I was sitting with the rif-raf behind the curtains. What made the most difference was the space. Very comfortable seats that recline a extraordinary angle and are situated in a little pod. Alas, it will be hard to go back to my usual coach seating. The personal TV’s was a welcomed perk, but I was too tired to even turn it on.

If you do want to treat yourself, splurge for the upgrade.
