Seeds of Change: Eco-Chic Organic Clothing from Edun

Here’s a new wrinkle in clothing… In March, Bono of U2 and wife Ali Hewson co-created a “sweatshop-free” line of casual wear of jackets, jeans, graphic-print Ts and romantic blouses with designer Rogan Gregory for men and women. Rooted in earthy chic and called Edun (“nude” backwards), its designs feature organic cotton made in sustainable family-owned factories in developing countries.

But that’s not all. Nike, Patagonia and Timberland are jumping on the bandwagon by beginning to use organic and recycled materials like cotton, hemp, soy, corn and bamboo. During New York’s biannual Fashion Week’s FutureFashion show this Spring, even Oscar de la Renta and Diane von Furstenberg introduced alll-organic designs.
