Beyond The Basics: Hotel Basico, Cancun

If you’ve ever been to Cancun’s Riviera Maya, you know it’s like Honolulu’s Waikiki or Miami Beach — a long string of massive hotels with tropical ocean views. The Hotel Basico is different.

With only 15 rooms, it’s casual, hip and eco-friendly, so it’s anything but massive. It features a seafood restaurant. Its rooms have exposed pipes, bare concrete walls, tall windows, huge bathrubs and very confy king-sized beds. And the roof deck is a terrific place for a drink or sunbathing. Two restructions: no pets and no kids. Rates range from $158-$218 USD.
