PJs for All Days :: Colorado

Who doesn’t want to hang around all day in soft flannel pajamas?

Aspen, Colorado-based Bridgi’s PJs are plush and comfortable with just enough glam (rhinestone buttons) and sass (bare-chested cowboy print fabric) to push a childhood staple right into opulent adulthood.

These PJs were made for being seen, for being worn in bright day light as well as under the covers. The motto at Brigi’s is “Never Get Dressed.? Owner Bridget Mactavish’s flannel or silk tops and bottoms are available in 100 stores and online at www.brigipj.com. The web site currently is offering free shipping.

I’m a sucker for anything with a mid-century kitschy feel, especially the hunky cowboys and Barbie-doll-shaped cowgirls of the 1950s, and Brigi’s offers a few fun choices. My favorites are the Back Country Babe print (think Betty Grable going fly fishing) with red sparkly buttons, but you also can’t go wrong with the shirtless cowboys and the “take them to town or take them to bed? sales pitch. For a more PG PJ, there’s the Puppy Breath pattern – little yellow Labrador retrievers on a MacIntosh plaid with Scottish terrier-shaped buttons.

Brigi’s also offers flannel PJs in prints of leopard spots, cowgirls, butterflies and ice cream sundaes. All are made of 100 percent cotton flannel fabric and are machine washable. They range in price from $155 to $165 for matching or coordinating long-sleeve button tops and bottoms.

Sizes are pretty true and there wasn’t much shrinkage after the first washing. Snuggle up with them in be, wear them to take the dog for a walk, go shopping or hang out with friends. These PJs would also be the talk of a party when paired with sparkly jewlery, a little tank top underneath and classic high heels. Like everything made of flannel, Brigi’s PJs just get softer and more comfortable with age.

Silk pajamas also are available for $200. They come in soft white with jeweled flower-shaped buttons that resemble my grandmother’s many costume-jewelry brooches. The classically cut silk PJs, with collar and set-in sleeves, have a Cary Grant look that just begs for an afternoon of lounging around with a pitcher of cocktails cooling in the fridge.
