I’ve dined at hundreds of seafood restaurants over my lifetime. A special one to remember is Oceana at the Marriott Longwharf Hotel overlooking the panorama of Boston’s Harbor.
With vintage cruise posters and replicas of some of the greatest and most glorious ships afloat, the decor is plush and like being on a classic cruise ship because the restaurant is shaped like a ship’s bow. The seafood, we’re told, is delivered straight to the hotel’s dock daily by the nearby fishing fleet.
I slurped the best, most buttery Clam Chowder ever, while my wife and daughter split a huge order of tender, Pan Seared Maine Sea Scallops with wilted greens, mashed potatoes, black mission figs and proscuitto.
The choices range from Salads, Seared Salmon, Grilled Swordfish and Shrimp, Crab Crusted Georges Bank Cod, Panama Bay Jumbo Stuffed Shrimp, Veal Oceana, Pan Seared Red Snapper, 2 lb. Steamed or Stuffed Lobster, and much more. We didn’t have room for dessert, but we drooled at a few that passed.
