Haute Couture, Fashion-Forward Trains: France

We’ve all done the EurailPass to criss-cross Europe during our penny-pinching college years. I recently rode the EuroStar in style through the Chunnel between London and Paris, marveling at how far train travel had come in style and fashion.

Now, iconic French designer Christian Lacroix has been chosen by the French Railways to upgrade their interiors and turn them into uber modern boutiquey environs.

Over the next five years, he’ll design all the high speed trains on the Atlantic route and the new route to Eastern France. So next time you ride a train in France, don’t be surprised if it looks like a boutique hotel instead of a rail car.
